About the Role:
We are looking for a Shift Technical Services Engineer to join our team at Newsprinters Eurocentral. This role involves working on a rotating shift basis, both independently and as part of a team, to ensure minimal downtime and maximum efficiency in our manufacturing operations. You will be responsible for performing preventative, planned, and corrective maintenance to uphold the performance, health and safety, and quality standards of our equipment. Your work will be integral in maintaining production uptime and driving continuous improvement across our technical services department.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Maintenance and Repair: Provide professional maintenance and corrective repair support for all production equipment while offering technical advice and assistance to the technical service department.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the engineering and manufacturing teams, as well as other maintenance and technical organisations, to resolve issues and ensure smooth operations.
- Technical Expertise: Maximise production uptime by exercising sound technical judgment, both independently and under general site supervision, while working within production schedules.
- Preventative Support: Deliver predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance to maintain equipment performance and improve operational efficiency.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Maintain high standards of health and safety for employees, business partners, and visitors. Ensure all accidents are reported according to company procedures.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the development of safe working practices and improve product quality by identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Asset Care Champion: Take responsibility for asset care, analyse future development opportunities, and collaborate with other champions across sites.
- Training and Development: Participate in relevant training and development activities to enhance skills and knowledge in the role.
- Problem Solving: Collaborate on technical issues and product quality problems, ensuring timely resolutions to maintain production effectiveness.
- Health & Safety Leadership: Take an active role in maintaining and developing Health & Safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with company, legal, and ethical standards.
- Strategic Projects: Contribute to strategic projects that identify future opportunities and threats to the business, followed by the implementation of action plans.
- Company Reputation: Promote the company’s reputation, fostering an appropriate culture and delivering results aligned with company objectives.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Qualified to HNC/HND level (or equivalent) in a relevant mechanical discipline, or able to demonstrate equivalent experience with the ability to diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and maintain equipment. Electrical qualifications or experience would be advantageous (City & Guilds Level 3, HNC, or HND).
- Previous experience in newspaper manufacturing environments, equipment, or processes is an advantage but not essential.
- Proficiency in relevant technology systems.
- Strong problem-solving and technical troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A commitment to health and safety practices and continuous improvement.
