About the Role:
As a Print 2, you’ll play a vital role in supporting our press operations to meet quality and efficiency targets. Reporting to the Production Manager and working closely with the Print 1 you will oversee the quality and performance of production runs, ensuring alignment with editorial and customer standards. This position requires strong communication skills, sound judgement, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards throughout each production run, meeting customer and editorial expectations for all titles.
- Collaborative Problem-Solving: Work in team settings to address any product quality issues promptly and effectively.
- Operational Decision-Making: Exercise sound judgement, independently or under the direction of the Print 1, Production Manager, or Operations Manager.
- Communication & Teamwork: Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, cooperating and coordinating with team members to ensure seamless operations.
- Technical Support: Alongside the Print 1, assist Production Managers by managing materials, records, and workplace information, ensuring maintenance, pre/post-run checks, and cleanliness standards across all work areas.
- Leadership & Guidance: Provide technical advice and leadership to the press team in the Print 1’s absence, following team-working principles to maximise efficiency and flexibility.
- Training & Development: Participate in relevant training to enhance your skills and support your professional growth.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Actively contribute to health and safety efforts, ensuring adherence to company, legal, and ethical standards. Report any unsafe acts or conditions through the proper channels.
What We’re Looking For:
- Industry Experience: Previous experience in newspaper manufacturing, equipment, and processes is preferred.
- Technical Expertise: Familiarity with the MAN PECOM print control system is advantageous.
- Formal Qualifications: A formal Print Qualification and/or completion of a Print Apprenticeship is preferred.
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to liaise effectively with multiple stakeholders.
